(updated Friday 10/29, 7:25pm - Trig Identities Sheet updated)
Next week is the end of the 2nd "six" weeks, and our last test of the grading period is on Tuesday/Wednesday (Nov. 2/3). Here is the review sheet:
Also, here is a reference sheet with the trig identities and formulas, in case you find it helpful:
- Test 7.1-7.3 Trig Identities KEY.pdf (updated with product-to-sum and sum-to-product identities)
- Chapter 8, #28
- Chapter 9, #1, 6, 9, 11, 15, 16
- Study the vocab at the end of each chapter
(FYI, there was a mistake in the numbering of the assignments last time, so this is actually homework #9)
Here is the homework:
- Finish the Chapter 7 Quiz (it was a take-home - if you missed class, see me to get a copy!)
- Do the horsepower lab for HP vs. time (we did HP vs. mass during class notes).
Here is the data. (look on page 2 or 3)
Make sure you use the info for your class period, put the time data in L1, HP data in L2, and do the same 5 questions that we did in class using your calculator to aid you. - Computer Printouts Worksheet: 8 Computer Output worksheet.pdf
(I know #4 is a little tough but do your best!) - A few book problems (sorry!): Ch. 8, (p.189), #1ac, 3, 14, 16.
Here's the assignment for the weekend:
- Ch. 7, #18*, 24, 25, 28. 30
*for #18, use your calculator for the scatterplot and draw a *sketch* on your paper. Your graph should include labels for the axes, as well as a *title* for the graph. - Read p.174-175, and answer "just checking" #3-6 on that page.
- Read p.178, "Residuals Revisited". Understand that it is a *good* thing for the residual plot to look like "nothing".
- Ch. 8, #27abc. For a challenge, do part (d) after you do all of the reading. Show all work!!!
As a reminder, there is a solo (non-group) quiz over Chapter 7 on Tuesday.
The current plan is to have our group quiz over chapters 7-9 on Monday, November 1, and the chapter 7-9 major test on Wednesday, November 3. Stay tuned on that~
The homework assignment for Thursday/Friday (due on Monday/Tuesday) is the following worksheet of trig proofs. Please show all work on separate paper!
Due on Friday:
- Chapter 7, #2, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 16abcef, 26, 29
If you want to re-visit the applet sites from class today, google "correlation applet" - the first 3 results *should* be what we hit on in class.
- Both sides of the worksheet handed out in class: 7 Worksheet Nutrition Windows.pdf
- Read p. 142-146, and follow the TI-Tips section to create a scatterplot on your graphing calculator. Be prepared for a possible quick quiz over this on Wednesday!
- P. 131 (Chapter 6 Review), #3, 8, 16, 24, 25
- Review your quizzes for the exam! Quiz solutions are posted on the whiteboard in my classroom (sorry, I cannot post those online), so feel free to come by and check them as necessary.
HW #4 is more z-score/probability questions. Show all work properly! (see below for an attached example)
- Ch. 6 #22, 34, 35, 37ac, 43
- P. 96, #35abc
The following is the full solution to #33, as an example for the type of drawings and work that are required in order to receive credit for these types of problems:
Our test over Chapters 5 - 6 is on MONDAY (not Thursday!). We will start chapter 7 on Thursday.
- Study p. 110 (Working with 68-95-99.7 Rule)
- Study p. 113 (Working with Normal Models I)
- Ch 6 (17,18,19,25,33,41abc) Bonus: p.127(41d,e)
- Don't forget that we have a long quiz on Tuesday, over Ch 5 & 6
Due this Thursday (October 7). There is also a short quiz over Ch.5 on Thursday:
- Ch 6 (1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 14, 16)
- Ch 5 (10bc - decide which set has the larger standard deviation, explain why, use your number cruncher to find the actual standard deviations)
In case you are wondering, the homework assignment numbers reset each six weeks. Here is the first assignment of the 2nd six weeks:
- p. 91 (Chapter 5), #7, 10a, 11, 14, 15, 17, 21, 23, 27
- There were also two worksheets (one sheet, front and back) that we did in class (home sales, and "Mooseburgers vs. McTofu". If you were absent, please get it from me~
