These reviews will count as a grade and need to be done EVEN IF YOU ARE EXEMPTING THE FINAL EXAM!!! These are due on the scheduled date of your class' final exam, unless your exemption status (85 semester average) is contingent on this review being complete (in which case, the review must be turned in before you may sign for exemptions).
- Algebra II Regular: Review Spring Final 2009 Algebra II.pdf (solutions are on last 2 pages)
- Pre-AP Algebra II: Review Final Exam 2nd Semester PreAP.pdf (counts as a QUIZ grade!)
*Slight* adjustments to the section 13-2 HW assignment (disregard what is on the syllabus) - this assignment is due on Weds/Thurs (May 20/21):
- Pg. 939, #26-29 (all), 30-46 (evens), 50-55 (all), 58-64 (all)
- Pg. 947, #20-26 (evens)
You may notice that the last set of problems is actually from section 13-3; these are the degree/radian conversion problems.
The last major test for Algebra II (both regular and Pre-AP) is scheduled for Monday/Tuesday, May 18/19. Here are the reviews:

Final Exam reviews are coming shortly~
Here are the solutions to the 12.1 - 12.3 practice quiz (the one that you were only given 15 minutes to complete).
This has NOTHING to do with the "swine flu".
. . .
Actually...
The reason for the calendar revision is that the next major test (Chapter 11.6 - 12) was originally slated for Thursday, May 14 -- the same day as the World History AP test. Since a number of sophomores would be out for that exam, we wanted to move the test to the following Monday, May 18 (Tuesday, May 19 for B-day). However there was rumor that the final bus evacuation day might get re-scheduled for Monday May 18 (which would basically screw up everything), so we had to wait to hear back from administration before moving the test date.
Today we received word that the bus evacation drill has been *cancelled* -- due to concerns related to the swine flu -- which frees us to push the Chapter 12 test back one class block to Monday/Tuesday, May 18/19. That is the only major change, although there are a couple of other minor adjustments.
So even though the main reason for this revision was a conflict with the AP World History Exam, you can say that it did indeed have something to do with the swine flu. =)
Here's the new calendar:
(you'll get one in class, so don't worry about printing this out unless you're impatient)
Update (4/25) - Partial Fractions Class Notes:
Powerpoint (filesize: ~2.1 MB) | PDF, 4 slides per page (filesize: ~6.3MB)
Here are the worksheets for the next two lessons before we get back into the textbook for chapter 12. Due to the scheduling of the TAKS tests, both of these assignments are due on Monday/Tuesday, May 4/5.

Also, if you need a copy of the Conics Project Worksheet, here is "blank" copy - you will need the values for the parahelion and aphelion values, so ask your group members or your math teacher for those. Remember: the project is DUE on May 8/11.
Here are the solutions to the TAKS Grade Level Practice Test that was handed out in class:

Since the question may arise at some point, here's a link that may prove to be enlightening:

FYI, this is NOT something that we will be teaching in Algebra II. This is why we have graphing calculators =)
In addition to the six problems that are assigned from section 4-4 for Cramer's Rule, here is a worksheet with an additional 4 problems:
04_04_Cramers_Rule_Practice.pdf
This worksheet is due on Friday/Monday, October 24/27, along with the rest of the Cramer's Rule section.
Here are the test reviews for chapter 3 (linear systems) for both classes:
- Regular (Test is Oct. 20/21): Review Chapter 3 Algebra II.doc |
- Pre-AP (Test is Oct. 16/17): Review Chapter 3 PreAP.pdf
Here is the handout that explains how to do the homework for section 2-7. This assignment is due on Thursday/Friday, Oct. 2/3 (yes, that is AFTER the chapter 2 test).
This assignment requires a TI-83/84 calculator, and explores how to do scatter plots and linear regressions on the graphing calculators. The following handout explains step-by-step how to perform these on the calculator:
02_07_fitting_linear_models_takehome.pdf
The HW (from the textbook) is:
Section 2-7, Page 146, #6, 7, 15, 16, 24
*for 6, 7, and 15, you do NOT need to draw any graphs on paper - just find the equation of the best fit line, and the correlation coefficient. When rounding decimals, use 3 decimal places.

Just thought I'd share this with the school year just a week away... this is for OfficeDepot.com:
http://bensbargains.net/deal/
This involves $70 worth of rebates:
- a $20 instant rebate online code (good until 8/31)
- two $25 mail-in rebates (both good for purchases made until 9/13)
The TI-83 gets knocked down to $20, the 84 plus to $50. If you want a pink or orange TI-84 plus silver edition (hey I have a purple one), that gets knocked down to $55.
For the two mail-in rebates, you can make photocopies of the receipt and UPC code, if you're curious as to how that works.
With final exams just around the corner, here's a rundown of the reviews for each class:
Algebra II Regular:
-
Algebra II Spring 2008 Final REVIEW.pdf
(solutions to the graphs on the first page are not included)
TAG/Pre-AP Algebra II:
- Pre-AP Spring Final REVIEW.pdf(there is no trigonometry on the exam)
Both classes' final exams include material covered during the 2nd semester only. Evening tutorials will be available in the library from Monday (May 19) - Thursday (May 22) afterschool.
Since AP testing is taking a lot of people out of class, here are the notes/handouts for the 2 sections of chapter 13 that we're covering:

For the next two blocks, we will be going over partial fraction decomposition. Here is the assignment for this section:

Please be advised that we are continuing with the B-day-first schedule through all of April and the first week of May. However, starting with the May 12-13 Chapter 12 test, we are returning to the traditional A-day-first schedule for the rest of the academic year.
update (4/5): there was a typo in the "Extra Practice" worksheet, #10 (the vertices and foci were reversed, and the problem was basically impossible). This has now been fixed, so please check the link for the correct numbers/answer.
update (4/8): found one more type, in the solution to #9 on the "Extra Practice". The numerator should read "(y - 7)^2", instead of "(y - 8)^2".
Here is the review for the Chapter 10 test next week:
Project Due Date: April 17/18, 2008
Here's a blank version of the project handout: Unicron 2008 blank.pdf

Our syllabus isn't quite ready yet, so in the meantime:
Homework for section 8-5, Pgs. 605 - 607 (due Feb. 20/21):
- #27 - 37 odd
- 38-46 all

Download: 08_06_conjugates_rationalizing_denominators.pdf
Due Date: Tuesday, February 26 (A-Day) / Wednesday, February 27 (B-day)
This is homework in addition to (NOT in place of) the bookwork from the syllabus (which will be ready very soon). This worksheet will be due on review day (Feb. 26/27 of next week), so you have some time to work through the 30 problems (but please don't procrastinate!!!).
The correct homework assignment is the 8-4 Technology Lab on page 591, #1-7 all. This assignment is due at the start of class on Thursday/Friday, February 14/15, and will prepare you for the lesson on section 8-4.
